HRD plays a major role in the achievement of organizational objectives and in creation of an effective and efficient Customs Department. In that context, HRD activities prepare new recruits to acquire the required knowledge, skills and behavior to perform their duties and services. It contributes to develop additional skills of the staff at different levels and encourages the development of career.

Stimulate officials understanding of the wishes of all Custom Clients and the requirements of international trade.

Encourage officials to be opened to continuous training and teaching.
Encourage proper behavior towards public.
Formulate Training Policies in collaboration with Senior Managers. Analyses operational problems and lead Training Needs Analysis process.

Elaborates examination and other evaluation tools
Evaluates the Training Systems
Trains, assists and evaluates trainers
Manages training and administrative support functions
Plans and designs new training facilities
Plans and forecasts long range requirements and training facilities
Exchanges experiences with other training bodies outside the Customs Department
Seeks external and overseas training assistance
Selects and recommends officers for overseas training
Liases with Regional Training Co-ordinator
The Customs Library was opened at the Human Resources Development Directorate on 26.01.2005 ie World Customs
