International Customs Day 2017 was celebrated at the Customs House Auditorium on 26th of January 2017. His Excellency the President Maithripala Sirisena was the chief guest. The ceremony was participated by Honorable Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake, Deputy Secretary to the Treasury Ms. G.D.C. Ekanayake, Director General of Customs Mr. Chulananda Perera, and other Government and private sector invitees along with the Customs officials. International Customs Day is celebrated by the custom organizations every year on 26th of January. It is celebrated to commemorate the very first official conference of the Customs Co-operation Council presently known as the World Customs Organization (WCO). This year, in the context of the International Customs Day, the World Customs organization had introduced the theme "Data analysis for Effective Border Management " to encourage the global Customs community to pursue their efforts and activities in this area. During the ceremony Customs officers, other Government and private sector officers who had done a remarkable service on data analysis were awarded WCO certificates.
Sri Lanka Customs
