SL Customs is set to launch the Authorized Economic Operator Programme on 20th, January 2022

Sri Lanka Customs is set to launch the Authorized Economic Operator Programme on 20th January 2021. The launching ceremony will be held at the Main Auditorium of Sri Lanka Customs Headquarters from 10.00 a.m. onwards with the graceful presence of the Hon. Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Finance.

As the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) came into effect on the 22nd of February, 2017 and Sri Lanka being a signatory has numerous obligations to fulfill in order to meet the standards to improve the transparency and predictability of trading across borders and to create a less discriminating environment. In line with the government’s efforts to fulfill these obligations Sri Lanka Customs has already developed a strategic approach towards the implementation of the WCO SAFE Framework of Standards. As part of this strategic approach, Sri Lanka Customs has decided to implement a robust Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Framework in line with the WCO SAFE Framework of Standards and other international standards.
